The Window Song

Coming off the success of her dreamy debut EP 'Grey' this past spring, and candid alt-pop demo this past February, Sirota takes a moment of pause with this nostalgic piece.

'The Window Song' is what Sirota calls ‘a tune for crying and vibing on the playground.’ The song exudes alt-RnB/Pop, capturing nostalgic elements of childhood using plucky synths while discussing somber themes of anxiety, insecurity, & growth into adulthood. With ample time for self reflection during quarantine, which suddenly ended and jolted Sirota into adulthood, she takes this moment to breathe through some very unsteady transitional feelings.

Produced by Bloom Productions in Philadelphia, the song draws inspiration from the sounds of Rex Orange County, Alicia Keys, and Orion Sun, while maintaining Sirota's staple bubbly staccato lyrics and velvety vocals.

Sirota says, "There were times throughout this year where I felt so cooped up and hazy I quite literally would stick my head out of my bedroom window to regain clarity. It became so routine to the point where I was like, you know, I think there’s a song in this somehow. ‘The Window Song’ is an ode to contradicting senses of self, and can hopefully be a friend to anybody else who needs some more fresh air in their life.”

‘The Window Song' by Sirota captures a quiet and melancholic moment, expressing a sense of stagnation and dullness, even during what should be sweet, peaceful, and carefree times in life. As Sirota, a South Brooklyn native, stepped into the fog of young adulthood, they found themselves totally bewildered and longing for the simplicity of earlier days. This song is perfect for a park hang on a crisp fall afternoon, for peak nostalgic feelings, of course.

Sirota is a 23-year-old independent singer/songwriter born and raised in South Brooklyn. If you personified a juice box from your fourth-grade lunch bag, gave it a love for R&B, and terrible hand-eye coordination, you would wind up with something resembling the five-foot-zero songstress.

A short and determined Sirota commuted from NY to work with Philadelphia’s finest gem, Bloom Productions on her acclaimed debut EP ‘Grey’, released this past May. The debut album received accolades from publications including Renouveau Media, Pastel Serenity Zine, Bloom Magazine, and The Pinnacle Mag. Notable performances include The Cutting Room NYC.
