SERINA (SHE/HER)

GRAPHIC DESIGN TEAM LEAD | SAGITTARIUS

  • My name is Serina, I'm the graphic designer for Rebelle Zine. When I'm not creating super wicked graphics for the zine and social media, I'm usually at home watching Twitch streams and YouTube videos. When I have a burst of energy and inspiration, I like to paint, draw, knit, or make bread . I also love watching movies and will go to the theatre any chance I get.

    What inspires me: I can find inspiration from anything or anyone as long as it peaks my interest

  • Hello! I’m Sarah! I am the Web Team Lead for Rebelle Zine. As a Muslim woman of colour, Rebelle is so important to me because it gives underrepresented creatives like myself, opportunities to shine within the creative industries. Outside of Rebelle I love to visit new places, play tag with my cat, turn my living room into a karaoke lounge, and explore the city’s hidden gems before they get too popular on TikTok. I also love digital and film photography and I freelance on the side!

    What inspires me: Local creatives making big strides in the industry, and also culture, flowers and nature!

COMMUNICATIONS TEAM LEAD | ARIES

  • Hey, I'm Vanessa! I'm one of the Communications Coordinators for Rebelle <3 In 2023, I graduated from Carleton University with a degree in English and a minor in Women's and Gender Studies and love nothing more than to combine the two disciplines by reading and uplifting stories from marginalized creators. Throughout my journey as both a creative writer and English student, I've realized that I absolutely adore working with other creatives and love to lend my communication and editing skills on shared projects. When I'm not working, you can find me watching food and book related content on YouTube, drinking tea in any form, playing D&D with my friends, and starting (but rarely finishing) creative projects.

  • Hi, I’m Anvaya! I’m an Event Coordinator for Rebelle Zine. I’m passionate about creating and curating experiences that bring people together, while also making space for emerging creatives to showcase their work and feel represented in meaningful ways. Outside of Rebelle, I work in fashion as an Art Director and Graphic Designer, always exploring new ways to tell stories visually. Beyond that, you’ll most likely find me wandering the home section of a thrift store, tinkering with DIY projects, or working on my art as I slowly discover my style and build a body of work.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT TEAM LEAD & FINANCIAL COORDINATOR | SAGITTARIUS

  • Heyhey, I’m Shannora! I’m a Project Manager and Financial Coordinator for Rebelle Zine. As a self-proclaimed ‘patron of the arts’ from Scarborough, I’m always looking for ways to encourage and uplift artists in the GTA! I’d like to do my part in creating spaces for representation that reflects the people I see around me, everyday. I love art of all forms, and I have an even stronger love for theatre and film as an actor-director. When I’m not busy in the spotlight, you can find me crafting, watching movies, vibing to music, or playing video games.

    What inspires me: overpriced objects that I can replicate as a DIY project and a well-timed soundtrack.

SOCIAL MEDIA TEAM LEAD | CAPRICORN

  • Hi! I'm Rachel. I'm a movement enthusiast currently finishing my Pilates teacher training to become a certified instructor, and I'm also a pole dance lover. Outside of teaching and training, I enjoy creating content, making videos, and sharing my journey on social media.

    I'm excited to lead the social media team because I want to gain more hands-on experience while helping Rebelle grow its online presence. I also look forward to connecting with other creative people, expanding my network, and contributing fresh ideas and positive energy to the team!

    What inspires me: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty – Probably the best "you only live once" movie. It's about an ordinary man who stops dreaming and starts experiencing life. Themes include adventure, courage, and stepping outside your comfort zone.

WRITING TEAM LEAD & COPY EDITOR | GEMINI

  • Hello! My name is Tatiana, I am currently the copy editor and one of the in-house writers at Rebelle Zine! My passions and hobbies include (but not limited to) literature, the history of fashion, tending to my goth garden, getting crafty and creative. I am a woman of colour, an immigrant and a spiritual practitioner. In the week, I work a corporate 9-5 in fashion. A homebody at heart; you can find me cross-stitching, embroidering, writing, reading, tending to my garden, cuddling my cat and brewing up some magic in my free time. My craft centers around the world of words, how people shape language and how language shapes people.

  • Hi, I'm Asha! I'm a writer for Rebelle Zine. My academic background is in journalism but I love storytelling and creativity in all forms. I hope that my writing can show that every person has an interesting story that deserves to be told. Outside of Rebelle, I freelance write about the environment, feminism, veganism , queerness, and anything else that makes me tick.

  • Hey, I'm Gabriella :) I am one of the in-house writers for Rebelle Zine! I graduated from the University of Toronto in 2023 with a degree in History and minors in Psychology and Italian Studies. Research, writing and storytelling are at the core of what I enjoy most. Engaging with people's stories and lived experiences critically is important to me, so I hope that my writing reflects that and helps others feel seen, inspired, and connected. Outside of Rebelle, you'll find me reading, going to a Pilates class, listening to music for ungodly amounts of time, attending concerts, and exploring new spaces in Toronto with my friends.

    What inspires me: Visiting museums, the people closest to me, and anyone who isn't afraid to embarrass themselves!

  • Hello, I'm Mash! I am an in-house writer for Rebelle Zine. I’m a journalist and editor interested in how health, culture, politics, and identity shape everyday life. My work sits at the intersection of science communication and social justice reporting, with particular interests in mental health, queer communities, women’s issues, health equity, and culture. I joined Rebelle because I'm interested in challenging myself by dipping my toes into arts reporting and also getting more in touch with Toronto's vibrant and sometimes under-appreciated creative scene. With this, I'm open to stories that explore how the creative industry and women artists are redefining excellence and challenging the status quo. When I'm not writing, editing, or stressing about my career, you can find me taking a stroll in High Park, cosplaying as a podcast host, and trying some overpriced cafe.   • Hi, I’m Amanda, one of the Project Managers at Rebelle Zine! I’ve always enjoyed writing, drawing, and painting as creative outlets. My background in marketing and communications has taught me how to bring ideas to life and share meaningful stories, so I am excited to be part of a team that uplifts and amplifies the voices of women and queer creatives. Outside of Rebelle, I’m usually journalling, watching reality TV, listening to a true crime podcast, or getting lost in music (my playlists have no genre loyalty). I also love being outdoors, whether it’s going on a walk or run, exploring a new café spot, or taking a trip somewhere scenic.

  • Hey, I'm Raquel, one of the Communications Coordinators at Rebelle Zine! I've always been passionate about storytelling and expressing creativity in all forms, whether I'm writing, drawing, or even just curating my monthly photo dumps. Being at Rebelle fulfills my desire to connect with and uplift fellow creatives, and I'm constantly inspires by the unique perspectives everyone brings! When I'm not working on Rebelle or being a marketing girl, I enjoy a fun coffee and thrifting date, reading a good book, journaling, and watching (way too many) movies.

  • Hi! I'm Amal. I'm part of the Web Design team at Rebelle Zine. My perspective and all that I do is informed by a deep love and care for the people around me. I am a big believer in community first. I come from a teaching background, and so this feeling started with being a care figure in the lives of young folks - teaching high school and diving into critical and decolonial pedagogy are my personhood. However, I live a very "wherever the universe takes me" type of lifestyle, and so while I have transitioned out of teaching, I still try to maintain my ties to my community and engage in different ways. Outside of my creative and care work, I am an ameteaur gardener (my microgreens WILL sprout!), fighter of beach waves, biker girlie, and reality TV connoisseur.

  • hi, I'm Salem! I'm a member of the Web Design team for Rebelle Zine, as well as a freelance designer and published poet and essayist (check out Issue 03 to read one of my poems!). My writing explores themes of identity, technology, space, nature, and the uncomfortable. When I'm not huddled in front of my computer in the dark working on designs or writing my latest poem, I like to spend time reading solarpunk fiction, playing on my switch, and going on walks to free little libraries around my neighborhood.

WEB DEVELOPER | AQUARIUS

  • Hi! I'm Dina and to Rebelle Zine I'm a Web Developer! Outside of Rebelle I study Engineering Physics at McMaster, produce, write, play and sound eng/mix music, and I nerd out on technology I can create with. Currently it's been SCADA and Ruby. There's so many functional labels I could use to describe my life experiences like African, Muslim, an immigrant and so on that I believe have given me experiences and interactions I use to inform my artwork and my contributions to non-profits/collaborative organizations like Rebelle (and open source projects on Github!). The creative process is already taxing and muddy and any technical or personal contribution I can make to help make that process easier for others especially those who have been barred from seeing how they can be creatives themselves is something I'm dedicated to, and so is Rebelle.   • Hi my name is Erinma! I'm the social media content creator for Rebelle Zine and I'm drawn to Rebelle because it's important t uplift marginalized communities in the work they do. I also feel excited by the opportunity to use my creative gifts towards making impactful content towards others. Outside of Rebelle, I like to try new restaurants in my area and keep myself creative in various ways. This is through drawing, painting, learning a new song on the guitar, or getting lost in a good book.

  • Hi, my name is Nahira (Naheala). I'm thrilled to work as a graphic designer and social media content creator for Rebelle Zine. This opportunity is particularly significant to me as a Muslim, queer woman of color since there are few spaces that support diversity, innovation, and authenticity. I genuinely appreciate being a part of a community where 1 can openly express myself, cooperate, and create. As part of my role, I strive to create visually appealing layouts and digital content that convey significant stories through design while [reflecting Rebelle Zine's creative style and objective. I have expertise in concent creatinn visual merchandising, graphic design, styling, and a variety of arts and crafts in addition to my work with Rebelle Zine.


    Outside of design, you can frequently find me drawing, creating and documenting stuff for my social media accounts, or going to creative events to meet new people, get ideas, and keep developing both personally and professionally.

  • Hiii I’m Alicia, I am an Event Coordinator at Rebelle Zine! I am passionate about my community and often gravitate towards events that create spaces for the voices that go unheard. I am motivated by the desire to bring people together in a way that reflects the multi-faceted people of our city. I love collaborating with other creative minds and I hope to always make people feel encouraged to tell their stories. Outside of Rebelle I am a poet, storyteller, and baker. I spend a lot of my free time writing, curating playlists, and watching ridiculously long Youtube analysis videos about music, TV and culture, I have an ever-growing list of every book I want to read and show I want to watch, and I dabble in different hobbies and side quests to keep life fun!

  • Hi, my name’s Adeena and I am an Events Coordinator for Rebelle Zine!! With an academic background in marketing/advertising and global management, I ensure that events are correctly planned and executed accordingly. I believe that art has always served an important purpose in connecting people throughout history, and it is why I am passionate about creating spaces for creatives to showcase their art and feel seen. It is my goal as a queer woman to work along side fellow creatives to showcase our stories through our respective mediums so that others can find comfort or relatability in our work. Outside of work, I love creating comics, playing way too much time video games and reading graphic novels.

  • Hi, I’m Shay! I’m one of the Event Coordinators at Rebelle Zine. I’m currently studying business, focusing on experiential marketing. I think community and human connection are some of the greatest sources of inspiration, especially for creative individuals. I love creating spaces where people feel welcomed and excited to connect with one another, and I’m excited to be doing just that as a part of this team!

    Outside of Rebelle, I’m usually working on one of the many hobbies I’ve picked up. Whether that’s playing guitar, painting, or tailoring my entire wardrobe, I love spending hours learning something new. I hate taking walks without a purpose, so you can count on me thrifting, cafe hopping, or inventing some other way to spend money under the guise of getting some sunshine!
