SARAH (SHE/HER)

CREATIVE DIRECTOR | ARIES

  • Hi, I’m Sarah! I am the Creative Director & Photographer for Rebelle Zine. As a Muslim woman of colour, Rebelle is so important to me because it gives underrepresented creatives, like myself, opportunities within the creative industries. Though my medium of choice is photography, I tend to dip my toes in all areas of Rebelle Zine to ensure everything runs smoothly, even if that means spending my 5-9 after my 9-5 working on the zine. Outside of Rebelle I try to make time for personal creative projects, tending to my ever-dying plants, cuddling kitties, turning my living room into a karaoke lounge, lighting pretty candles in the name of self-care, and exploring the city’s hidden gems before they get too popular on TikTok.

  • Hey, it’s Maeve! I’m the Editor of Rebelle Zine. I have the pleasure of overseeing our talented writing team, interviewing incredible artists, and doing all sorts of writing for the publication. I live for consuming and creating art in its many forms, especially when it means I get to connect with other creative souls. My favourite medium is music—I’m never not singing or working on a new song. I’m a Media Production graduate (with a minor in Music & Culture) who is now lucky enough to work a couple of creative jobs at nonprofits. Day-to-day, you can catch me jamming out, sipping on iced chai lattes, and rewatching Adventure Time for the millionth time.

PROJECT MANAGER & FINANCIAL COORDINATOR | SAGITTARIUS

  • Heyhey, I’m Shannora! I’m a Project Manager and Financial Coordinator for Rebelle Zine. As a self-proclaimed ‘patron of the arts’ from Scarborough, I’m always looking for ways to encourage and uplift artists in the GTA! I’d like to do my part in creating spaces for representation that reflects the people I see around me, everyday. I love art of all forms, and I have an even stronger love for theatre and film as an actor-director. When I’m not busy in the spotlight, you can find me crafting, watching movies, vibing to music, or playing video games.

    What inspires me: overpriced objects that I can replicate as a DIY project and a well-timed soundtrack.

  • Hey, I'm Vanessa! I'm one of the Communications Coordinators for Rebelle <3 In 2023, I graduated from Carleton University with a degree in English and a minor in Women's and Gender Studies and love nothing more than to combine the two disciplines by reading and uplifting stories from marginalized creators. Throughout my journey as both a creative writer and English student, I've realized that I absolutely adore working with other creatives and love to lend my communication and editing skills on shared projects. When I'm not working, you can find me watching food and book related content on YouTube, drinking tea in any form, playing D&D with my friends, and starting (but rarely finishing) creative projects.

  • Hey, I'm Raquel, one of the Communications Coordinators at Rebelle Zine! I've always been passionate about storytelling and expressing creativity in all forms, whether I'm writing, drawing, or even just curating my monthly photo dumps. Being at Rebelle fulfills my desire to connect with and uplift fellow creatives, and I'm constantly inspires by the unique perspectives everyone brings! When I'm not working on Rebelle or being a marketing girl, I enjoy a fun coffee and thrifting date, reading a good book, journaling, and watching (way too many) movies.

    What inspires me: Connecting with nature, seeing my favourite bands and artists live, and witnessing others pursue their passions.

  • Hi, I'm Regan! I'm one of Rebelle Zine's Communications Coordinators. I'm thrilled to be able to work with and alongside others passionate about creating art and building community! Implementing my degree in English and Women's and Gender Studies in the environment that Rebelle Zine fosters is such a joy. I'm happiest with an open Word doc and inspiration to write something magical, but you can also find me reading a YA murder mystery, using my handy crafting glue stick, or ranking hot dogs (with mustard, of course).

    What inspires me: Perseverance, the beauty of nature, and the sense of wonder through creativity.

  • Hi, I'm Mia! I'm an Event Coordinator with Rebelle Zine. I'm thrilled to be coordinating fun events that bring people together to celebrate the talent of femme and queer creatives. My aim is to foster a community where everyone is excited to share their ideas and creative projects, connect with new people, and let loose to the performances and activities we put together :-) Outside of Rebelle, you can find me running a book club, creating super specific Spotify playlists, attending concerts and theatrical performances, visiting museums and art galleries, and, weather permitting, downhill skiing.

    I hope to meet you all at our next event!

    What inspires me: Witnessing my friends chase their passions, plotless fiction ripe for analysis, live performers doing their thing, and a restful sleep.

  • Hi, I'm Elle! I'm an event coordinator for Rebelle Zine. I've spent the past three years making events for the 2SLGBTQ+ Community, and I'm excited to continue to do so with Rebelle across Toronto and highlight queer and femme individuals! Outside of Rebelle, I identify as a non-binary lesbian. I love drawing and painting, both traditionally and digitally, video games, mangas and comics, and finding little events to attend throughout the city, and visiting art markets!

    What inspires me: people being open and passionate about their art!

MISS DAISY (SHE/HER)

  • Meet Serena Sutherland, affectionately known as Miss Daisy—a multifaceted creative powerhouse who seamlessly blends artistry, entrepreneurship, and mindfulness. Based in Mississauga, ON, Miss Daisy thrives as a model, creative director, yoga teacher, and multidisciplinary installation artist. She proudly defines herself as an “eccentric eclectic expressionist,” embodying art in its most unapologetic and diverse forms.

    Emerging stronger from the challenges of the pandemic, Miss Daisy channelled her creativity into bold narratives and visuals that captivated audiences. Her portfolio spans self-curated projects, album covers, visualizers, and features in prestigious outlets like GMARO Magazine. Her artistry has graced prominent spaces for her artwork, including Toronto's Union Station, the World Trade Center in New York, Lisbon NFT Week, and LiteBite Immersive, where she transformed the iconic Lite-Brite toy into a nostalgic communal art piece.

    In addition to her visual art, Miss Daisy brings healing and connection through yoga. As a teacher, she has hosted transformative classes and retreats in collaboration with the Red Maat Collective, OnePeopleTO, and renowned venues like Lululemon. On her own, she has curated her own retreats for the last four years that have since been a staple in the artist's community for mental health.

    Serena Sutherland, aka Miss Daisy, is more than an artist—she’s a living testament to the power of imagination. Join her as she paints life’s canvas with bold, vibrant strokes of creativity and community.

  • My name is Serina, I'm the graphic designer for Rebelle Zine. When I'm not creating super wicked graphics for the zine and social media, I'm usually at home watching Twitch streams and YouTube videos. When I have a burst of energy and inspiration, I like to paint, draw, knit, or make bread . I also love watching movies and will go to the theatre any chance I get.

    What inspires me: I can find inspiration from anything or anyone as long as it peaks my interest

  • Hiii, Im Ary! Im a graphic designer for both Rebelle Zine and L.A. Girl. I love art! I try to always branch out try new mediums. My current favorite is acrylic. As a queer Latine, I believe it is our duty to ensure freedom, protection, and justice for everyone. Which is why I try to surround myself with people who are making a difference, like Rebelle Zine. I am a huge podcast lover, so I’m always on the hunt for a the next one. When I find time to relax I usually put on my favorite horror movie to wind down.

    What inspires me: Mexican artists, de la Torre Brothers, use their work to speak about Mexican culture, colonization, religion, and many other topics. Their work is extremely impactful. My absolute favorite artist is designer, Alexander McQueen. His work incorporated so much courage, creativity, and pure talent. I know there are a lot more people, but that’s just off the top of my head

  • What’s up! My name is Luca, I’m a transmasc artist and graphic designer from Tkronto. While design is my strong suit, I also dabble in curation and writing. When not working at Rebelle, I can be found scooping at Honey’s (on Dundas come say hi), thrifting, fixating on my next DJ set and expired camera film. I also love music (hit me up for local shows), tattooing my friends and playing video games!

  • Hi there, I’m Marie Louise! I am a Social Media Coordinator for Rebelle Zine. My academic background is in International Development and Globalization but my overall passion lies in art and storytelling. I am currently working as a visual and tattoo artist in Ottawa. You can find me tattooing clients at our private studio or vending at events selling cute and lively artwork. My creativity stems from curiosity, bright colours, childlike whimsy and imagination. Outside of my work + Rebelle, I like to discover and try new handicrafts, play games on my PC, and spend time with friends.

  • Hiii, I’m Keira !!! And I am a TikTok content creator for Rebelle Zine. I’m a video editor, and full-time lover of all things media. I’ve been making videos for as long as I can remember—editing on Windows Movie Maker when I was eight, dabbling in YouTube during high school, and eventually getting to work professionally with creatives across Ontario. These days, I get to bring ideas to life for spaces like Rebelle, who allow myself and others to speak for their community and to know that there is a space to bring people together who feel like maybe they have no space of their own! When I’m not making content I’m probably watching it; movies, reality tv, anime, YouTube… you name it I’m probably watching it and would talk your ear off about it if you let me !!!! :))

WEB DESIGNER | SAGITTARIUS

  • Hi! I'm Amal. I'm part of the Web Design team at Rebelle Zine. My perspective and all that I do is informed by a deep love and care for the people around me. I am a big believer in community first. I come from a teaching background, and so this feeling started with being a care figure in the lives of young folks - teaching high school and diving into critical and decolonial pedagogy are my personhood. However, I live a very "wherever the universe takes me" type of lifestyle, and so while I have transitioned out of teaching, I still try to maintain my ties to my community and engage in different ways. Outside of my creative and care work, I am an ameteaur gardener (my microgreens WILL sprout!), fighter of beach waves, biker girlie, and reality TV connoisseur.

  • hi, I'm Salem! I'm a member of the Web Design team for Rebelle Zine, as well as a freelance designer and published poet and essayist (check out Issue 03 to read one of my poems!). My writing explores themes of identity, technology, space, nature, and the uncomfortable. When I'm not huddled in front of my computer in the dark working on designs or writing my latest poem, I like to spend time reading solarpunk fiction, playing on my switch, and going on walks to free little libraries around my neighborhood.

    What inspires me: the number of indie zines, mags, and small presses popping up in the literary scene

WEB DEVELOPER | AQUARIUS

  • Hi! I'm Dina and to Rebelle Zine I'm a Web Developer! Outside of Rebelle I study Engineering Physics at McMaster, produce, write, play and sound eng/mix music, and I nerd out on technology I can create with. Currently it's been SCADA and Ruby. There's so many functional labels I could use to describe my life experiences like African, Muslim, an immigrant and so on that I believe have given me experiences and interactions I use to inform my artwork and my contributions to non-profits/collaborative organizations like Rebelle (and open source projects on Github!). The creative process is already taxing and muddy and any technical or personal contribution I can make to help make that process easier for others especially those who have been barred from seeing how they can be creatives themselves is something I'm dedicated to, and so is Rebelle.   • Hi, I'm Asha! I'm a writer for Rebelle Zine. My academic background is in journalism but I love storytelling and creativity in all forms. I hope that my writing can show that every person has an interesting story that deserves to be told. Outside of Rebelle, I freelance write about the environment, feminism, veganism , queerness, and anything else that makes me tick.

  • Hey, I'm Khadra! I'm a writer with Rebelle Zine. I have a passion for writing, specifically using storytelling to uplift the voices of marginalized folks not typically given space in mainstream media. I find nothing more rewarding than using my writing skills to make people finally feel heard, understood, and represented. Outside of writing I love doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, thrifting, embroidery, taking nature walks, and dancing my heart out to 90's-00's R&B and Hip Hop.

    What inspires me: Seeing BIPOC and queer folks sharing their passions and living their truth
