The Rejection

"As a kid, I took rejection extremely personally. My parents sided with school administration anytime I tried to stand up for myself against bullies or teachers who mistreated me, so I learned from a very young age just to sit back and let them hurt me. But through reparenting my inner child, I’ve learned to transcend that impulse and to defend myself when someone makes me feel bad. And though I’ve done a lot of work over the past few years to heal my inner child, learning to fight back may be the biggest stride I’ve made."
